Laser-TVs Terms and Definitions

DTV:

DTV is an abbreviation that stands for "Digital TV" (or "Digital Television"), and is an umbrella term encompassing three quality standards: standard-definition, enhanced-definition, and high-definition. DTV uses digital signals, in contast to analog signals. This is the future method of broadcasting television as put forth by the ATSC.

On February 1, 2006, Congress passed a law setting the final deadline as February 17, 2009 for the complete transfer from analog television broadcasting over to digital television broadcasting. Analog televisions will still be able to receive signals, but only with the use of a converter box that changes the digital format into an analog format.

Laser televisions are a form of DTV, and therefore are designed to receive the digital television signal (not the older analog signals used by conventional television).
